The high or “Dry Season” begins late November and continues into May. This period is often frequented by northern “snowbirds” that seek sun and beach destinations as winter breaks. Most of the country receives little no rain and landscapes dry out during this season.
The other or “Green Season,” spans from mid May to mid November, with low season rates. Some prefer this "other season" when the country is lush, tropical and vegetation abounds.
At Colours Oasis Resort – a gay hotel in San Jose celebrating 21 years - more guests stay for an extended time during Green Season to take advantage of day tripping. Tours departing from their front door (volcanoes, waterfalls, canopy ziplines, hiking, birding, horseback, rafting) return to the varied dining and gay nightlife options that abound in the capital city. Like most accommodations, Colours offers discounted room rates to attract international guests to experience the green season.
In any season, you can Discover Gay Costa Rica by contacting Colours Destinations for tours and Colours Oasis Resort for lodging and dining. Colours books with their network of gay and friendly venues and accommodation, including others hotels that are part of the Gay Travel Costa Rica association and The IGLTA.
