SearchTheGayWeb Submission Guidelines

STGW is a categorized directory of web sites which has been delivery quality trusted results to targeted Gay, Lesbian, Bi-curious and Transgendered surfers since 1999. All sites are visited and reviewed by human editors before being added to our database.

There are three types of listings:

1. Free Listing: for not-for-profit and non-commercial sites Only
2. Basic Commercial Listings: charged an annual listing fee for consideration of inclusion of your site in the regular listing area, as detailed on our submission page.
3. Premium Listings are charged an annual service fee for consideration of the inclusion of your site ahead of all free and basic listings, as well as additional features detailed on our submission page, for a period of 365 days from the date of approval.

Non-Commercial Sites are ones which do not have as their primary purpose marketing, promoting or directly selling a product or service. Some examples of sites we will consider for free inclusion are: personal sites, support groups, community services and government agencies.

Commercial Sites are ones which have as their primary purpose marketing, promoting or directly selling products(s) or service(s). Such sites will only be considered as paid Basic or Sponsored Listings.

In an effort to speed up the review and inclusion of your site in our directory, we ask that before submitting to SearchTheGayWeb you read the following guidelines carefully.

1. Choose The Most Relevant Category

We can not emphasize enough the importance of submitting your site to the most relevant and appropriate category. Having your site in the most appropriate and targeted category will aid surfers in finding your listing, and also help with your overall search engine marketing goals.

When choosing a category keep the following things in mind:

• Dig down in the category listings to make sure you are in the right area 
  
• Are the other sites listed similar to yours?

2. Submit Your Domain, Not Internal Pages (Unless Premium Listing Class)

In an effort to keep our directory as targeted, diverse and spam free as possible, we are asking that site owners submit only their main site domain and not internal pages. What this means is that you do not have to submit various internal web pages which are on your site, unless they are completely different and targeted to different surfers.

We do make an exception for subdomains.

These are ok:

Home Page : www.yoursite.com
Subdomain : cameras.yoursite.com

This is not ok :

http://www.yoursite.com/cameras/batt...ransitors.html

*Note: Premium Sponsored Listings can provide up to 3 Internal (Deep) Links to internal pages as part of thier listing details. If you feel that an exception should be made for your internal pages you can contact us prior to submission. 

3. Submitting Your Site

Our submission form asks for four important pieces of imformation about your site; Title, Description, URL and Email

Here are some examples of the type of information which is acceptable, and which is not:

TITLE
Submit Titles which include your company or site name. Your title should match the title of your actual site.

Acceptable:

Gay Web Directory

Not Acceptable:

DESCRIPTION

The description of your website or web page should be as long as possible, without exceeding the character limit. Your description must be a factual and objective description of your website. Avoid using promotional language and strings of key words and search terms. Words and phrases like "cool" and "best darn site" will be removed. Do Not capitalize the first letter of every word.

Acceptable :

Gay focused travel services featuring cruises and hotel and bed and breakfast accommodations

Not Acceptable :

The BEST Deals on Gay Hotels and the LOWEST PRICES on Gay Cruises!!!

About Keywords :

Your description should contain keywords which accurately describe your site, product or service. Our search utility looks for relevant words or phrases in both the title and description fields. Sites which spam the description field with irrelevant workding may be rejected.

4. Quality Sites & Unique Content

SearchTheGayWeb does NOT accept free or paid submissions into our directory:

• XXX Porn sites, including free and blog style sites.
• Sites which contain pornographic images, unless images are legitimate art.
• Sites which are "Under Construction" or "Coming Soon"
• Sites which redirect to a different URL
• Sites that promote discrimination or hate of any group
• Sites promoting illegal activity, including warez
• Sites promoting online pharmaceuticals or gambling
• Sites with little or no content. A site is more than 1 page!
• Sites which include a tracking or affiliate code in the URL
• Sites hosted on free-hosting ( Tripod, Anglefire, etc.)
• Sites with pop-up /pop-under consoles or other intrusive advertising
