Product Description
Genre: Television: Series Rating: UN Release Date: 21-OCT-2008 Media Type: DVD
In a clever move, the producers of The L Word use season five to revisit the origins of their own creation. After Jenny (Mia Kirshner) sets out to direct the silver-screen edition of her novel, Lez Girls, she enters a parallel world populated by actors playing thinly-veiled versions of the central cast (in a typical Jenny move, she sleeps with the star who portrays "Jesse"). This post-modern plotline brings newcomers up to speed, while offering early-adapters new perspectives on the past. Naturally, the shoot doesn't go smoothly. When the increasingly self-absorbed Jenny hires adoring fan Adele (ER's Malaya Rivera Drew) as her assistant, events take on All About Eve overtones. Since Jenny is turning her life into a movie, it only makes sense for the two to bleed into each other. In other developments, Tina (Laurel Holloman) and Bette (Jennifer Beals) consider reconciliation, Helena (Rachel Shelley) does time in prison, Alice (Leisha Hailey) takes her penchant for gossip too far, Tasha (Rose Rollins) fights to stay in the military, and Shane (Katherine Moennig), a dead ringer for Warren Beatty in Shampoo, rejoins the ranks of the single, only to fall for straight girl Molly (Cybill Shepherd's daughter, Clementine Ford). In a more melodramatic, but equally entertaining move, Dawn Denbo (Elizabeth Keener), proprietor of new hotspot SheBar makes life hell for the Planet, but Kit (Pam Grier) and her loyal clientele refuse to go down without a fight--even if they don't offer "Lesbian Turkish Oil Wrestling." Aside from the fact that Max (Daniela Sea) continues to get short shrift, The L Word's fifth year proves the show has more than a little lusty and gutsy life left in it, and was renewed for a sixth season. Extras include cast biographies and episodes of Showtime's Dexter, Californication, and This American Life. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

this is like melrose place July 27, 2010 Amy Faunce (toledo, ohio United States) I love the L Word and I'm glad to finally have this season. The only thing that I can say bad about this season is that it got to be too much like Melrose Place, and not in a good way. When I got this in the mail I made a comment on the kinda poor condition of the box that the people who are reading this might want to consider.
best purchase April 12, 2010 Brenda L. Arellano (usa) i would for sure buy from this seller again fast shipping great quality loved everything thanks
good February 11, 2010 Kelley Naranjo (Burlington, vermont) Happy to receive this product in order to complete my collection. I was surprised that the DVDs did not come in original box, to keep them all together. Not a huge deal....
Sad to see it end! January 31, 2010 S. P. Kane (Norwich, CT United States) Anyone who has been a fan is sad to see the "end" of this series...it was a great run ladies and you brought us all some laughs, some tears, and....?
L-Word Fifth Season-Wow December 9, 2009 plum crazy for books The Fifth Season of this one-of-a kind Showtime series was a short one. Some of our favorite characters (Think Bette and Tina) are featured prominently this time around. There is a very interesting storyline involving Jenny and a newcomer named Adele. Adele is not who she seems to be and that makes for an exciting backstory. A lot of the episodes revolved around the making of Jenny's 'Lez Girls' movie. I thought too much of it at times though we got to see Jenny and Tina go after each other and eventually come back together in a sweet way at the end of the season. Late in the season we meet the serious no-nonsense Molly (Phyllis' daughter) She plays a straight girl who Shane develops a crush on. Will the famous Shane be able to warm up this icy girl? The cliffhanger was a little anticlimatic but I am looking forward to the Sixth and final season. All in all a good solid season this time around.
